Downloading Microsoft R Server 2016

Introduction

It seems that Microsoft R Server is a separate installation of  R Server. It is also present a the Visual studio Dev essentials. But is is also a separate installation option during the installation of SQL Server 2016.

Choose the x64 version....

Now during the installation of SQL Server 2016 I also found these feature installation options:

And there is also a separate installation in the Installation of SQL Server 2016.

Okay, what do we need for what?

Conclusion

It seems there are fouroptions: In Database, Standalone install within the SQL Server installation process, standalone in the SQL Server installation but as separate installation and a separate installation. I will look into this in the near future. I will blog about that...
